Watertown Moves
The Watertown Moves initiative aims to promote movement for health with campaigns, programs, and resources. Current and recent programs offered include Walk with a Doc & Just Walk series (virtual and in-person), enhanced with fitness and functional movement sessions, gentle Martial Arts and Stress Reduction programs including Yoga, Qigong, Tai Chi, and indoor Circle Walking.
Through our long-time partnership with the Watertown Recreation Department, we've tested out new adult programs including Snowshoeing and Kayaking, which are seasonal offerings through the Recreation Department.
In partnership with Watertown's Bike and Pedestrian Committee, we promote safe cycling programs and offer education, resources, and free bike tune-ups at our annual Get Out Your Bike Event during Bay State Bike Week in the spring. Save the date for this year's event, scheduled for Saturday, May 20, 2023. Find more information and resources on our site to support your health goals!

According to the CDC, regular physical activity is one of the most important things you can do for your health. The general recommendation is to engage in 2 hours and 30 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity, such as brisk walking, each week. Be sure to check with your physician about your personal needs if you have any health conditions.
Active living requires access to a safe space in a community to engage in physical activity on a daily basis.
Watertown has many walking and biking paths to utilize for outdoor activity, including the improved Charles River pathways and DCR’s new Waterfront Park and Braille Trail along Charles River Road, east of Watertown Square. Going west, the Charles River pathway extends into Waltham, offering additional scenic views to explore and enjoy.
